Beginning in fourth grade, children of First Presbyterian Church may assist in Worship by being an Acolyte. Acolytes carry the light that represents Christ's presence into our sanctuary during our service of worship.
The Acolyte Program at First Presbyterian Church includes children and youth between the ages of 10 and up. They are an integral part of our Worship Service. An Acolyte starts his or her training when they are entering Fourth grade. They go through a training program in which they become full fledged Acolytes. During this time they are trained to light candles, present the Bible, and carry the Crucifer Cross to begin Worship Service.
At the beginning of their training, they are presented with an Acolyte Book which explains what they will be learning. At the end of their training they receive a certificate of accomplishment, a cross and an Acolyte Pin. They are then scheduled to serve during Worship Service.
We are thankful for these young people who serve their church faithfully, and with reverence and dedication.
For more information, please call the church office and our Acolyte Coordinator will get in touch with you. We welcome you to participate in our program.
