~Sunday School Classes~
Assembly in Carlton Hall 9:30 a.m.
Sunday School 9:45 a.m.
Childcare-Nursery & Pre-School Rooms
Childcare is available during Sunday School & the Worship Service beginning at 9:30 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. for all children from birth until age four. Our professional staff provides a loving environment for children to play and enjoy one another. For the pre-schoolers, we are currently using the “God Loves Me” curriculum from Faith Alive publishing. Each of the 52 books in the series, retells a Bible story in simple language that children can understand. Delightful illustrations and suggestions for follow-up play help reinforce the story. Children will learn about God's wonderful creation and people like Abraham, Hannah, David, Simeon, Anna, Peter, Jesus and Paul—and all the wonderful stories in between.

Elementary Rotations-Various Rotation Classrooms
K through Grade 5. This group uses the PC USA “We Believe” curriculum. Fall 2009 is entitled “Worship Begins.” As the people of Israel evolved from wandering tribes into a landed nation-state, they were developing their relationship with God and understanding of God’s nature and presence. Their forms of worship became more corporate and sophisticated over this time, culminating in the building of Solomon’s temple. As children explore the beginnings of worship with the people of Israel, they will gain an awareness of worship today.

This class will be using The Stranger Series Box Set. From the producers of “The Perfect Stranger” and “Another Perfect Stranger” comes a 7-episode mini-series for television that continues the stories of a modern day Jesus walking amongst us. The College Ministry also meets frequently for coffee breaks and social gatherings. Join them in their room decorated and painted (by them) with GSU colors!

“That Class”-Fielding Russell Classroom
Many people who suffer want to love God, but cannot see past their tears, hurt, or betrayal. In addressing the universal question “why does God allow anguish and suffering in the world?” That Class will be examining how Christians respond to pain and distress. For our primary text, we will be using C. S. Lewis’ book, The Problem of Pain. Ancillary texts include Philip Yancey’s Where is God When it Hurts?, The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom, and Night by Elie Weisel.

Pilgrims & Prodigals-Carlton Hall
The Present Word seeks to facilitate mastery of Bible content, understanding of the Bible in relation to life experiences and a greater awareness of God’s self-disclosure, especially God’s redeeming love as revealed in Jesus Christ. Participants are invited to reflect on how they might live in faith and love. The Present Word nurtures individual growth of the participants as children of God rooted in the Christian community, life in the Spirit and Christian hope. Discussion and activities encourage participants to live out their faith in their individual and congregational activities.

Children’s Church
Children’s Church is offered for children in K-Grade 5. Children begin by attending the Worship service with their parents. After the children’s sermon, the children are lead by the Children’s Church teachers to the Oasis classroom.
We are currently using the “Kid’s Own Worship” curriculum. Your children will sing, shout, celebrate God’s goodness and mighty works. Children will focus on God in their own way-and experience worship through fun songs and memorable, hands-on Bible learning.
