Reverend Daniel Francis Lewis
Dan Lewis spent his childhood in Burlington, Vermont, surrounded and supported by a large extended family. His family moved south and settled in Marietta, Georgia, for his high school years. He is proud to call Georgia “every bit as much a home as Vermont.”
He attended Davidson College in North Carolina. While at Davidson, Dan found a welcome friend and mentor in the college’s chaplain, a Presbyterian Minister.
After graduating from Davidson College with a Bachelors of Art in English, Dan volunteered for a year in Washington, D.C., with the Capital Area Food Bank. During this time, he felt God’s call and enrolled at Union-PSCE in Richmond, Virginia. While in Richmond, he found a supportive church home at Second Presbyterian Church and was led to pastoral ministry in the Presbyterian Church.

Dan completed his Masters of Divinity from Union-PSCE in 2005 and served as Interim Director of Youth Ministry at Sardis Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was the pastor of Walkersville Presbyterian Church in Waxhaw, North Carolina, prior to his move to Statesboro. His dedication to the Presbyterian ministry includes membership on the Ecclesiastical Affairs Committee of the Charlotte Presbytery, service as short-term supply minister for the Presbytery of Western North Carolina and Charlotte, and participation in the Summer Collegiate Ministry Team at the Montreat Conference Center in Montreat, North Carolina.

While attending seminary, Dan met and married Susan Edwards. Susan is from Raleigh, North Carolina, and is an ordained Minister of the Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (USA), as well as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of North Carolina. Dan and Susan have one daughter, Elizabeth, who celebrated her first birthday in October, 2009.
The Lewis’ family dog, Jasper, is named for the town in which he was born. Asked about his interests, Dan offers the following observation: “I read good books, play bad golf, and like to linger over a tasty meal with family and friends when I can.”
He feels his call to pastoral ministry is the thing he is “most suited for in this world.” Dan regards his pastoral ministry “a great privilege.”
